Marlys Commentary: Fellow Entrepreneurs, Keep Your Name Out There!

Sep 26, 2024

Yeah, it’s crazy out there!

“In all my years,” (as old people like to say), I’ve never seen anything like this. The political situation is mildly amusing, even if it is bizarre, and no, I “ain’t gonna say nothin’ about it!”

But it’s affecting business.

Marlys Fox.

And the world situation isn’t exactly stable. For me, a person who has spent her entire life traveling to almost every country in the world, I’m not sure I’d be safe to go back just now to some of my fave destinations. What a shame.

And again: It’s affecting business.

So, let me query my fellow entrepreneurs: How about ensuring that you have marketing managers charged with keeping their companies profitable during these times? And how doing the same with sales managers who know what they need to do to assure they can close business.

  • You agree, do you not, on the importance of branding? Keeping your company and its products/services top of mind with all potential buyers? Agreed, it’s vitally important!
  • You agree, do you not, that you’d like to find an audience other than your current account book that happen to be prime prospects for buying your companies’ product offerings? And that you could stand having that sales message delivered to all of them, over and over again, before you’re able to connect for a sales meeting? Of course.

That means, then, that you’re going to have to retain and maintain, maybe even increase during these times, your investment in keeping your NAME out there and the SALES MESSAGE on your offerings out there!

If you’re fearful the world is going to come to an end sometime soon, why spend the money? I say “Why NOT spend the money?” And to quote a current media personality “What in the hell (he said it) do you have to lose?”

Bottom line: If we fear for our economic future, I’m saying don’t make it a self-fulfilling prophecy by neglecting the basic business tenets that you know are necessary for operating a successful business in this free-enterprise economy.
